The name comes from the\u00a0Ancient Greek<\/a>:\u00a0\u03c7\u03c1\u03c5\u03c3\u03cc\u03c2 \u03ba\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03b1<\/span>\u00a0(chrysos kolla), “gold glue”,[5]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0in allusion to the name of the material used to solder\u00a0gold<\/a>, and was first used by\u00a0Theophrastus<\/a>\u00a0in 315 BCE.<\/p>\n

Chrysocolla has a\u00a0cyan<\/a>\u00a0(blue-green) color and is a minor ore of copper, having a\u00a0hardness<\/a>\u00a0of 2.5 to 7.0. It is of secondary origin and forms in the\u00a0oxidation<\/a>zones of copper\u00a0ore<\/a>\u00a0bodies.<\/p>\n
